MCC THEATER (Robert LuPone & Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; John G. Schultz, Executive Director) announces a 3-week extension, now through Saturday February 5, 2005 of NEIL LaBUTE's FAT PIG, starring in alphabetical order: Ashlie Atkinson (Theresa on F/X's "Rescue Me"); Andrew McCarthy (Broadway: Side Man; feature films: Less Than Zero; Pretty in Pink; St. Elmo's Fire); JEREMY PIVEN (Ari Jacobs on HBO's "Entourage") and Keri Russell (Golden Globe winner for WB's "Felicity"). Jo Bonney (Living Out; Fifth of July) directs.

The world premiere of FAT PIG began off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on Tuesday, November 23. Opening night was Wednesday, December 15.

What do you do when you meet the love of your life and she's more than you ever imagined…about seventy-five pounds more? In Neil LaBute's comedy of manners, FAT PIG, Tom (Jeremy Piven) is falling for Helen (Ashlie Atkinson) a bright, sexy woman who happens to be "generously proportioned." She challenges his mind and makes him laugh. Trouble is, his friends are laughing too. Forced to defend his new relationship and bear the brunt of insults from Jeannie (Keri Russell) and Carter (Andrew McCarthy), Tom must come to terms with his own preconceptions of conventional good looks.

In the age of no carbs, nip tucks and extreme makeovers, will Tom destroy his chance for true happiness?

ABOUT MCC THEATER

MCC THEATER is one of New York City's leading Off-Broadway theater companies, committed to presenting New York and World Premieres Off-Broadway each season. Under the artistic direction of Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, and William Cantler, MCC Theater has brought many artists' names into the spotlight in its eighteen-year history. John G. Schultz serves as Executive Director.

When MCC Theater was founded in 1986, its mission was simple: to bring new theatrical voices to theater-going audiences. MCC Theater continues to accomplish this yearly through presentation of its season works; its Literary Program, which actively seeks and develops new and emerging writers; and its Education Outreach Program, allowing more than 1,200 students yearly to experience theater, increase literacy and discover their own voices in the arts.

Notable highlights from the MCC 18-year history include: the 2004 Tony-winning production of Bryony Lavery's Frozen, Tim Blake Nelson's The Grey Zone, Margaret Edson's Wit, Marsha Norman's Trudy Blue, Rebecca Gilman's The Glory of Living and Neil LaBute's The Mercy Seat. Over the years, the dedication to the work of new and emerging artists has earned MCC Theater a variety of awards, including a Pulitzer Prize for their production of Wit in 1999.

MCC THEATER recently presented Bryony Lavery's LAST EASTER, directed by Doug Hughes (closing: Oct. 23, 2004). MCC concluded its 2003-2004 season with Neil LaBute's THE DISTANCE FROM HERE, directed by Michael Greif; the sold-out run (and Tony-winning Broadway transfer) of Bryony Lavery's FROZEN directed by Doug Hughes; and Eric Coble's BRIGHT IDEAS, directed by John Rando.
