Little Women Vocal Selections Now Available to Singers

Singers longing to take a crack at the score of Little Women will now be able to buy the vocal selections.

Currently available from the Cherry Lane Music/Hal Leonard Corporation, "Little Women" Vocal Selections encompasses 17 of the show's songs, which feature music by Jason Howland and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein.  The vocal book includes arrangements for both piano and guitar.  Included in the book are: "An Operatic Tragedy," "Astonishing," "Better," "Could You," "Days of Plenty," "Five Forever," "Here Alone," "How I Am," "I'd Be Delighted," "More Than I Am," "Off to Massachusetts," "Our Finest Dreams," "Small Umbrella in the Rain," "Some Things Are Meant to Be," "Take a Chance on Me," "The Fire Within Me" and "The Most Amazing Thing."

Also featuring a book by Allan Knee, Little Women (based on the much adapted-novel by Louisa May Alcott) opened at the Virginia Theatre on January 23rd after starting previews on December 7th, 2004. Directed by Susan H. Schulman and choreographed by Michael Lichtefeld, the show closed on May 22nd after running for 137 performances and 55 previews. Sutton Foster, who starred as Jo, received a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. A cast album is available on Ghostlight Records.

Maureen McGovern, who starred as Marmee in the Broadway production, is also on hand for the national tour.  Postponed because of a set-destroying fire at San Diego's Civic Theatre, the tour will now launch at that theatre on September 2nd and play 30 US cities, including San Jose, Columbus, Chicago, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C.

"Little Women" Vocal Selections, which is listed at $17.95, can be purchased at sites linked from www.halleonard.com.  For more information on the tour and its dates and venues, visit www.littlewomenonbroadway.com.
