Featuring country western music by Reckon So and old-time String band tunes from The Sassy Jenkins, a love story by Colbert writer, Frank Lesser, and New Yorker cartoonists Liza Donnelly and Michael Maslin, who are not only wonderfully witty cartoonists, but also married, to each other.

"Quilombo Country" tells the story of "quilombos," settlements established in the hinterlands of Brazil by Africans fleeing slavery, as they struggle to preserve their culture in modern times. Narrated by Chuck D of Public Enemy.
$12 ($1 from each ticket will go towards Haitian relief efforts)

Impulse Initiative presents When Nature Calls by Josefina Lopez
A dance and theatrical production in which seven women explore spirituality and love. Impulse Initiative blends dramatic performance with choreography in inventive and memorably ways; their previous production at the Nuyorican (Jose Rivera's Sonnets for an Old Century) was a crowd-pleasing hit.
$20/$15 with a clothing or food donation

Dreaming The Americas: Utopia In Performance
Conference takes place on Friday from 11am to 8pm and Friday from 11am to 6:30pm
This two-day conference will focus on a wide range of contemporary works for theatre and performance, viewing physical, metaphorical, and digital utopian spaces from a variety of formal and creative perspectives. Keynote speeches will be delivered by Erik Ehn and Henry Godinez.
$25 for both days.

8PM The New School Afro-Cuban Big Band directed by Bobby Sanabria $10

Sanabria is a professor of music at the New School, and the students that make up the band are the next generation in the music scene. Sanabria helps them keep the traditions of Afro-Cuban music alive, and they play the classic compositions of Chano Pozo, Tito Puente, Dizzy Gillespie and Mario Bauza.

Is there an age limit for shows at the cafe?
No. All shows at the Cafe are all ages.
Does the cafe serve food?
The Cafe has a bar that serves beer, wine, and soft drinks, but we do not serve food. If you're hungry, we suggest our neighbors Cafe Cortadito (fabulous Cuban cuisine at 210 E. 3rd St) and Chez Betty (cozy French coffee shop at 256 E. 3rd St).
What's the closest subway to the Cafe?
The closest train is the F or V to the 2nd Ave. stop.
