TodayTix, the fast-growing ticketing startup on a mission to redefine the way people see theater, today launched the first documentary style theater podcast, Broadway Backstory. In partnership with Patrick Hinds, founder of the popular Theater People podcast, both new-to-theater millennials and the global theater community will now be able to access the untold, behind-the-scenes stories of hit Broadway musicals - directly from the people who conceptualized and created them.

The first season of Broadway Backstory will be shared as a seven-part series, kicking-off with two episodes devoted to exploring Lin-Manuel Miranda's Pulitzer Prize nominated and Grammy and Tony award winning musical, "In the Heights." Offering a first-hand account of how the production evolved from a college project to a groundbreaking Broadway hit, listeners will also uncover the hurdles that almost prevented the play from ever coming to fruition.

The first two episodes are available today, with the remaining episodes - featuring Fun Home, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Secret Garden, Legally Blonde, and the Deaf West production of Spring Awakening - dropping weekly. Listen to Episodes 1 & 2 below!

"Broadway Backstory is the next step in our vision of making theater accessible to everyone," said Merritt Baer, CEO and co-founder of TodayTix. "Just as the TodayTix app brings our customers insider access to great prices, our new podcast will offer exclusive behind-the-scenes insights and stories with the creative teams who have created some of our favorite Broadway musicals."

"I'm thrilled to partner with TodayTix to share the incredible backstories of some of the most inspiring shows of our time - from story inception to opening night - told through the creators, actors, directors and producers who lived and breathed each production," said Patrick Hinds, founder of Theater People.

Episodes of the Broadway Backstory podcast are available for download on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, SoundCloud and anywhere users get their podcasts via RSS feed. For additional information, visit www.todaytix.com/broadwaybackstory.
