BACKSTAGE, Nov. 27 at 10:30PM:
Each week, Broadway cast members and audiences alike gather to mix and mingle at 54 Below, Broadway’s most intimate haunt, located in the heart of the theatre district. Musical Director Brad Simmons keeps the house jumping from the piano, while host Susie Mosher (the love child of Joanne Worley & Paul Lynde) guides the crowd through an evening of music, mayhem and full throttle belting. Special guests from hit Broadway shows drop in to perform and answer the question on everyone’s minds, “what happened in each week to sing everything from Schwartz to Sondheim. You might even get up and sing yourself if you’re feeling brave, or brave, or relax with a cocktail and some sliders – the night belongs to belongs to you! NPR had this to say "The best thing you! NPR had this to say "The best thing happening right now might just be the weekly Backstage. Hosted by the ridiculously funny Susie Mosher and pianist Brad Simmons who clearly is the man, it’s two feel-good hours among New York's theater people, who seem like they're having a really fine time. Can't recommend it highly enough!" With special guests: Karen Mason (Wonderlust, Rebecca, Mamma Mia), Na Tasha Yvette Williams (Porgy and Bess), Telly Leung (Godspell, Rent), Anya Marina (Singer, Songwriters), Alysha Umphress (American Idiot, On a Clear Day), and Sweet Fix (Pop Rock Band). Charles captures the spirit of Naples in English and Italian, introducing these songs to new audiences in the same manner as the great Italian-American singers of the last generation, but with a beautiful operatic voice that does them justice. Cover charge $25-35. $25 food & beverage minimum.

Her inventive piano playing and totally unique vocal sound leads her into transforming any composition into her own art with her trademark emotional directness and respect for the tune, its lyrics and its many possibilities. Says Stephen Holden in The New York Times, “Barbara Carroll is about as good as it gets!” Cover charge $30-40. $25 food & beverage minimum.
