Lehmann Maupin is pleased to announce plans for a new gallery in the heart of Chelsea, Manhattan's premiere arts district. The building is located on the corner of West 24th Street and 10th Avenue in the former home of the Getty Gas Station. It is adjacent to the landmark High Line park, a destination for innovative landscape design and site-specific art installations.

The new location, with a primary entrance on West 24th Street, encompasses 8,500 square feet spread across three floors, with interiors designed by renowned architect Peter Marino.

Gallery founder Rachel Lehmann said: "The gallery has experienced tremendous growth in the past few years, both in terms of our artist roster and staffing. With higher ceilings, more square footage, and state-of-the-art lighting and infrastructure, this new bespoke space has been designed to meet our expanding needs, as well as the ever-evolving creative needs of our artists."

The column-free ground floor exhibition spaces have hardwood floors, an abundance of natural light coming through overhead skylights, and ceiling heights up to 23 feet. The additional floors of the gallery feature exhibition spaces, private viewing rooms, and offices. The Hill Art Foundation will occupy the two floors directly above Lehmann Maupin.

"West 24th Street will be the primary location of our business," gallery founder David Maupin added. "Chelsea remains an important hub of the New York contemporary art scene. We represent a growing roster of renowned international artists, and it is important for us to be able to offer additional exhibition options and exposure within the area. This new space, which is uniquely our own, will provide us with the opportunity to present up to three exhibitions in Chelsea at a time."

Construction has already begun, with expected completion in 2017. In the interim, Lehmann Maupin will continue to operate out of its current gallery locations in New York, at 536 West 22nd Street and 201 Chrystie Street, and in Hong Kong in the Pedder Building.
