Lee Abrahamian Joins Met As New Director of Communications

By:

Lee Abrahamian has joined the Met in the new post of Director of Communications. In this senior management position, she will develop and execute the Met's communications strategy, working across departments on a range of projects. She will directly oversee press, publicity, and related outreach efforts.

Elena Park, the Met's Assistant Manager overseeing a broad area including marketing, communications, editorial, and media content, said: "I am thrilled that after an enviable career in broadcast journalism, Lee Abrahamian has joined the Met as communications director. She will lead a key area of my department and work closely with Peter Gelb as well as the Met's senior staff. Lee's rich background in news and media – combined with her passion for and knowledge of the arts – will make her a great asset to the Met."

An Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist, she most recently worked as an executive producer for MSNBC, producing four hours of live programming each day – and, as the headlines demanded, breaking news coverage. She also was a contributing arts writer for msnbc.com.
Previously, Abrahamian was News Director at WCBS-TV, where she ran the day-to-day news operation. She also served as executive producer for wide-ranging specials covering topics such as the Pope's visit to New York City, political conventions, and the Tony Awards. She is a graduate of New York University.
