LANDSFRAU هموطن to Make UK Premiere at Summerhall During Edinburgh Festival Fringe
German-Afghan performer Mariann Yar brings her autofictional solo work to TechCube 0 as part of Aurora Nova's season.
Edinburgh Festival Fringe audiences will be able to see the new theatre work LANDSFRAU هموطن this August as part of the Aurora Nova Edinburgh 2026 season.
Presented by Doris Crea Collective, the production will run August 6–31, 2026 at Summerhall in TechCube 0. The production has a running time of 60 minutes, with the first review date scheduled for August 7.
Blending music, choreography, and poetry, LANDSFRAU هموطن follows Ariana as she reflects on Afghanistan, diaspora, family history, and cultural identity following the 2021 evacuation of Kabul and the return of Taliban rule. The production combines autobiographical storytelling with imagined memory, Afghan folk music, electronic soundscapes, and dance.
Performed by Mariann Yar, the work examines questions of belonging, displacement, and inherited identity through an autofictional lens.
The production is created by Doris Crea Collective, including Andrej Agranovski, Leonard Dick, Alessa Maria Karešin, and Mariann Yar. Direction and text are by Leonard Dick and Mariann Yar, with choreography by Paul Calderone, stage and costume design by Amelie Sabbagh, and dramaturgy by Thalia Hertel.
