Kristin Chenoweth to Return to Carnegie Hall with THE EVOLUTION OF A SOPRANO, 5/3

On Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m., Emmy- and Tony Award-winning actress and recording artist Kristin Chenoweth returns to Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage with an all-new program entitled The Evolution of a Soprano.

Directed by Richard Jay-Alexander and featuring pianist and music director Mary-Mitchell Campbell, this newly created, one-night-only engagement showcases Ms. Chenoweth performing a varied evening of music that highlights her incredible range-from works influenced by her early operatic and classical training in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to hit songs from her starring roles on Broadway and in film. In addition to popular hits and classical selections, Ms. Chenoweth will perform new works, standards, and even works popularized by amateur soprano Florence Foster Jenkins. This performance marks Ms. Chenoweth's first solo appearance at Carnegie Hall since her sold-out show in September 2004.

Emmy and Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth effortlessly transitions between stage, television, and film as well as having an accomplished singing career. She received rave reviews while starring in the ABC series Pushing Daisies, for which she received an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She has appeared in Fox's comedy Glee and also starred as Annabeth Schott on the hit drama The West Wing. Ms. Chenoweth received a Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Sally Brown in You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown and received a Tony Award nomination for Best Leading Actress for originating the role of Glinda in Wicked. A Little Bit Wicked, the uplifting chronicle of her life thus far, was released by Simon & Schuster in April 2009 and debuted at number twelve on The New York Times Best Sellers list.

A veteran of the concert scene, Ms. Chenoweth has had numerous collaborations with various symphonies, including the New York Philharmonic, Boston Pops, National Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the San Francisco Symphony. She performed Bernstein's Candide at Lincoln Center with the New York Philharmonic, which was broadcast as part of PBS's Great Performances. Other notable concert engagements include her sold-out Los Angeles solo debut at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, an evening at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, the Washington National Opera's 50th Anniversary Gala with Plácido Domingo, and performances at the Hollywood Bowl and The Metropolitan Opera. Last year, Ms. Chenoweth presented a sold-out solo show at Lincoln Center's Allen Room in a program entitled Kristin Chenoweth: The Dames of Broadway... All of 'Em!!!, which also aired on PBS stations. She recently made her Australian national touring debut, headlining the 2013 Adelaide Cabaret Festival and performing at the Sydney Opera House.

Highlights of Ms. Chenoweth's stage career include performances in Music in the Air and Stairway to Paradise at City Center Encores!; the Off-Broadway productions of Scapin and Love, Loss, and What I Wore; and the Broadway productions of The Apple Tree, Epic Proportions, Steel Pier, and Promises, Promises. Television features include appearances in CBS's The Good Wife, ABC's hit comedy Ugly Betty, and as Mrs. Noodle on Sesame Street, in addition to starring in her own series Kristin on NBC. Ms. Chenoweth played Marian Paroo in ABC's movie version of Meredith Wilson's The Music Man, and Lily St. Regis in the television adaptation of Annie, directed by Rob Marshall. Her film credits include appearances in You Again with Jamie Lee Curtis and Kristen Bell; Deck the Halls with Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick, RV with Robin Williams; Bewitched with Nicole Kidman; Running with Scissors with Annette Bening, and The Pink Panther with Steve Martin.

Aside from her performance career, Ms. Chenoweth recently formed a new charity partnership with the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center Foundation in her hometown of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, dedicated to providing artistic and educational opportunities, offering entertainment and artistic enrichment to the Broken Arrow community, and serving as a vital partner in the cultural and economic vitality of the region.

For Carnegie Hall Corporation presentations taking place in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, a limited number of seats, priced at $10, will be available day-of-concert beginning at 11:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 12:00 noon on Sunday until one hour before the performance or until supply lasts. The exceptions are Carnegie Hall Family Concerts and gala events. These $10 tickets are available to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis at the Carnegie Hall Box Office only. There is a two-ticket limit per customer.

In addition, for all Carnegie Hall presentations in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage a limited number of partial view (seats with obstructed or limited sight lines or restricted leg room) will be sold for 50% of the full price.
