Krankenhaus Blues Returns to Off-Bway, October 5

Visible Theatre will remount Sam Forman's play Krankenhaus Blues at the Dorothy Strelsin Theatre, beginning October 5th. The theatre is part of the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex.

Krankenhaus Blues is, "a frightening and funny play about disability issues, genocide, and the grim realities of show business.  A playwright, an actress and a clown are locked in a Nazi asylum for reasons beyond their comprehension," state press materials on the show, which takes place in 1930s Berlin and modern day New York.  

Forman is known for writing the lyrics and co-writing the book of the musical I Sing!, which was recently given a concert at the York Theatre. Donna Mitchell will direct the show.

The cast includes Christine Bruno, Bill Green, Joe Sims, and Angela DeMatteo. All four actors are members of the Visible Lab. The company's mission is train and nurture theatrical talent both physically abled and disabled.

The five-week performance schedule, running October 5 through November 5, will be: Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 3:00 PM. The official opening is Sunday, October 8 at 3:00 PM.
