Odessa Staircase Redux is a kind of flipbook revisiting the well-known film sequence from Sergei Eisenstein's 1925 film Battleship Potemkin. The first frame of every cut is hand-redrawn in black ink. The ensuing series of 153 ink drawings is re-organized to form a typology of camera angles and subject matter that in turn creates a new animation of the scene in the mind of the viewer.

MOYRA DAVEY

COPPERHEADS
Published by Bywater Bros. Editions, 2010
104 pages, numbered edition of 200
Special launch price: $35.00

In the late 1980s, Moyra Davey began collecting pennies she found in the streets of New York and then focused her macro lens on Abraham Lincoln's severely nicked, scarred and oxidized profile creating close-up portraits (of the portrait) which challenged the idea of history, value and legacy. These photographs were first exhibited in 1994 at American Fine Arts, Co. Copperheads is a new artist's book which documents 100 of these photographs - an image of the most ubiquitous, although possibly least noticed, portrait in the United States.NOW ON VIEW IN THE GALLERY
