Kit Major Shares BRAIN STEW Cover, Sets August West Coast Tour Dates
The Los Angeles-based artist's MISS EGO EP has drawn comparisons to Amyl and the Sniffers and Viagra Boys.
Los Angeles-based rocker and DIY punk powerhouse Kit Major has had a packed summer. Fresh off the release of her new EP, Miss Ego, and her first UK tour, Major is now unveiling her take on Green Day's 'Brain Stew' as part of the Punk Rock Radar x Coffin Curse Records Green Day tribute compilation.
'If you've ever been to a Kit Major show, there's a good chance you've seen me high kicking to 'Brain Stew,'' Major says. 'I never imagined we would actually record our own version, but when we got involved with the Punk Rock Radar x Coffin Curse Records compilation CD, there was no question which song we would choose. It was the first cover we learned as a band and is also the first Kit Major recording with band members AJ Peacox, Kamber Fishbein, and Tom Fitzgibbon.'
The track was recorded at the home studio of Grammy-nominated mixer, engineer, and producer Keith Armstrong, whose credits include Green Day, My Chemical Romance, and Paramore.
With all the punch and swagger of the original track, Major injects 'Brain Stew' with her own fiery, distinctive edge. ''Brain Stew' has always been one of my favorite Green Day songs, so recording it with my band made the whole experience feel extremely thrilling.'
Alongside the release, Major has announced a run of West Coast tour dates this August with fellow punk outfit Tess & The Details. With new music, a growing live presence, and plenty of momentum, Kit Major shows no signs of slowing down.
