The 2012 New York Musical Theatre Festival special event production of Really Bad Things plays the PTC Performance Space beginning this afternoon, July 12.

Created and Directed by Marc Eardley, the cast features Kevin Kraft (Broadway's A Funny Thing Happened...), Catherine LeFrere (Once Upon a Time in NJ), Robert J. Townsend (The City Club, Mamma Mia! National Tour) and Mike Backes (Las Vegas' Jersey Boys) with an ensemble that includes Vanessa Dunleavy, Suzanne Dressler, Max Chernin, Curtis Howard, Christine Howard and Lisa Fiebert.

Really Bad Things is inspired by the DC Madam and Lobbyist scandal of the mid 2000s. The new musical features music and lyrics by Nick Messitte.

The musical is described as such: Have you heard? Really Bad Things are happening in Washington D.C.! A Lobbyist is blissfully engaged in indecent activities…while a conservative Senator tries to hide his desire for hookers and diapers…and a Georgetown Madam is operating an escort service with a client list that includes Ambassadors, Congressmen and…even-more-powerful others? Could it be all three are connected? Really? A musical tale of power, sex and greed in our nation’s capital!

The production features music direction, orchestrations and arrangements by Nathan Siler, choreography by Leasen Almquist, dramaturgy by Stacey Weingarten and lighting design by Ryan Metzler.

Performances are scheduled for today, July 12 at 4:30 PM, July 13 at 10:30 PM and July 19 at 4:30 PM. A free mini-performance and talk back with the DC Madam's actual lawyer (and character in the show), Montgomery Blair Sibley, will take place at the NYMF HUB on July 18th at 3:30pm.

$20 tickets are available by calling Ovationtix at (212) 352-3101 or by visiting www.nymf.org. The PTC Performance Space is located at 555 West 42nd Street.
