Next month LOCOMBIA, a new theatrical piece written by J. Anthony Roman, will get a premiere run from 9/26-9/28 at Speyer Hall at University Settlement (184 Eldridge Street). Fusing music, poetry and multimedia alongside Roman's own experiences in South America, LOCOMBIA is a comedic travel writing exodus that explores the similarities of being poor in a third world country and being broke in the USA.

LOCOMBIA is an unemployed American artist's guide to surviving Bogota! Telling the story of writer J. Anthony Roman's journey to Colombia, it flows from tourists observations, to the frantic musings of a fish out of water stuck in a foreign country without the cash to escape. LOCOMBIA is a comedic travel writing exodus that explores the frustrations and limitations one faces while being poor in a third world country, and being broke in the USA. Projections and original traditional Colombian music (Gaitas y Tambores) performed live throughout the show create a synergy that will transport audience members into the world of Locombia!

Directed by Jill DeArmon and Produced by Erin Cherry/With A Cherry on Top Productions, the cast of LOCOMBIAwill feature Adam Cohen, Gillian Glasco, Barbaro James, Rebeka Piñón-Cassidy and Johnny Sanchez. Projection Design is by Nick van der Grinten, Lighting Design is by Josh Rose, and Original Music is composed by Cristhian Quimbay, performed by Cristhian Quimbay and Cristobal Miranda.
