You’ve been connected to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s work since the early days! How does it feel to now step into a full symphonic concert celebrating his music?

It is truly an honor. Lin-Manuel is an incredible person who makes everything better, and having collaborated with him for over 20 years, celebrating his music in this way feels like a beautiful full-circle moment. This concert, Everything I Know: Mandy Gonzalez Sings Lin-Manuel Miranda, is my most personal work to date because it weaves my own journey with the brilliant music of a dear friend.

This show spans everything from global hits like Hamilton and Encanto to shows with a more cult following like 21 Chump Street and Delivery. How did you approach curating the setlist?

The curation was very intentional. I wanted to tell a story that reflected both our shared history and my personal growth as an artist. Including pieces like 21 Chump Street and Delivery alongside the massive hits allows us to explore the breadth of Lin-Manuel’s storytelling while giving fans—both longtime "HamFans" and new listeners—a deeper look into the music that has defined so many stages of our lives.

What does it mean to you to be able to bring this show to venues and audiences across the country?

Bringing this show nationally is incredibly moving. During my time in Hamilton, I realized that the show acted as a lighthouse for people searching for a place where their voices were validated. By taking this concert across the country, I hope to continue building that community and reminding audiences that they don’t have to navigate their journeys alone.

You’re known for performances in shows like Wicked, In the Heights—how does performing in a concert format challenge or stretch you differently as an artist?

In a Broadway show like In The Heights or Hamilton, you are often stepping into a defined character or taking over a role that exists within a specific technical structure. In a concert format, I have to let go of that control and just be myself. It is my most personal work because it’s not just about the notes; it’s about the vulnerability of sharing my own stories directly with the audience.

Having collaborated with Lin-Manuel for over 20 years, what have you learned about storytelling through music from him?

The most profound lesson is that music can be a home. Lin-Manuel’s writing has this unique ability to make people feel seen and included. I’ve learned that when you tell your truth through music, you create a space for others to find their own.

Do you have any final thoughts you’d like to share?

I just want to encourage everyone to find their own #FearlessSquad. Whether you are an artist starting out or a fan in the audience, having a community that lifts you up and catches you when you fall is everything.
