IRT & Random Access Theatre Present The World Premiere Of MIRANDA FROM STORMVILLE

Random Access Theatre opens its 2019 season with the World Premiere of Miranda from Stormville by Adam Bertocci. The production, a modern retelling of Shakespeare's The Tempest, runs March 14 - 24 at the IRT Theater in the West Village. Artistic Director and co-founder, Jennifer Sandella directs. Bertocci's previous productions include the highly acclaimed, Two Gentlemen of Lebowski (published by Simon & Schuster). Miranda from Stormville is part of IRT's 3B Development Series.

In small town New Jersey, somewhere off the Garden State Parkway, a great storm is raging. But inside their little house, Miranda Milano watches the once magical energy drain from her Pops eyes. Their dormant life is shocked awake by the arrival of two young men, stranded by car trouble, who cause a shift in the fabric of the family's life. But is their random arrival actually random at all?

Miranda from Stormville asks: how do we escape circumstances we can't avoid? How do we continue on when hope is lost? Just miles outside New York City, Miranda's rural America may as well be a stranded island: is she destined to only experience life through the books she constantly devours? Or does her ailing father, with his self-professed powers, and a caretaker with a flair for the dramatic have bigger plans in store?

The cast features Anna Cain (The Coward/FringeNYC), Brendan Cataldo (All My Love, Kate/Fresh Fruit Festival, Wild Project), James A Pierce III (ANASTASIA, The Lion King/Broadway), Mackenzie Menter (Romeo and Juliet/Hudson Shakespeare Company), Gabe Templin (Drunk Texts/Random Access Theatre), and Richard Wayne (The Pajama Game/ Boston Conservatory).

The creative team includes set design by Roni Sipp, sound design by Tony Lepore, and stage management by Addison Herndon. Victoria Teague serves as dramaturg, marketing director and producing associate, Mike Gregorek new media director and producing associate.

Performances take place at IRT Theater, 154 Christopher Street (between Greenwich & Washington), 3rd Floor, New York City, NY 10014. Subway: 1 to Christopher Street.

Random Access Theatre, under the Artistic Direction of Jennifer Sandella, was founded in 2010 with the mission of reclaiming and re-imagining works of the past as a way to engage in modern issues, while simultaneously nurturing the development of new pieces from emerging New York City artists. Their ongoing drunken reading series, The Drunk Texts brings classical texts to sold-out crowds in the West Village every month. They return to IRT for a second time after performing herSTORY in the fall, a series of programming examining the women who changed the face of theatre.

IRT Theater is a grassroots laboratory for independent theater and performance in New York City, providing space and support to a new generation of artists. Tucked away in the old Archive Building in Greenwich Village, IRT's mission is to build a community of emerging and established artists by creating a home for the development and presentation of new work. Some of the artists we have supported include Young Jean Lee, Reggie Watts, & Mike Daisey. This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Office of Councilmember Corey Johnson and The Nancy Quinn Fund, a project of the Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York(A.R.T./New York).
