The Rewind Show is a vision we have had for as long as we have been in the business of night clubs and event planning. We are tired of the same concept that every night-club in NYC has been stuck with over the years and think that it's time to change the way to party! As we all know nothing can compare to a live performance and therefore we have created the Rewind Show! We want to bring an experience like no other by combining the live music of the 80's Rock & Roll era along with the best DJ's spinning the present hits. Every Saturday night, the Highline Ballroom will operate as a high-end night club to let people experience the Rewind Show.

Between 2005 and 2006 Jonathan Coulton wrote, recorded, and published a new song every week as a free podcast project called "Thing a Week." This year-long experiment produced 52 consistently well-written and solidly produced songs, and he soon became an internet sensation. Jonathan's songs cover unusual topics not often heard in music and tend to make even the most jaded listeners excited about music again. A number of Jonathan's songs have become full-fledged internet hits. Coulton releases all his music under a Creative Commons license that allows for legal file sharing and copying, as well as non-commercial derivative works. His worldwide community of fans has rallied around him to generate airplay on hundreds of podcasts, create a library of music videos, and arrange gigs around the United States.

Brother Joscephus and the Love Revival Revolution is a 12-piece explosion of Love, Righteousness and New Orleans soul. The best feel-good gospel-style music without the bothersome "subservience to Jesus" part. Throw in a liberal amount of Ray Charles/Al Green/Otis Redding soul, a big tip of the hat to N'awlins and some good ol' roots rock and you've got a perfect gumbo simmered to righteous perfection! Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez!

SIERRA LEONE'S REFUGEE ALL STARS
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$25 adv, $30 at door
Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars started playing music together in West African refugee camps while their homeland was being racked by years of bloody warfare. Since then, audiences around the world have embraced the band and their utterly extraordinary story. On their forthcoming album, Rise & Shine, the All Stars' sound, as well as their biography, evolves further; the music finds them "establishing an identity based as much on skill, imagination and charisma as on their undeniably touching story" (The Los Angeles Times). Cumbancha will release the album on March 23, 2010.

Thursday, April 15
CARBON LEAF
with Rachel Platten
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 7:30pm
$15 adv, $18 at door
Carbon Leaf's brand of rootsy, Celtic-influenced rock originated in the same Richmond, VA, scene that nurtured Dave Matthews Band, Agents of Good Roots, and Pat McGee Band. In 2001, Carbon Leaf debuted a more mature sound with the album Echo Echo and won a Coca-Cola-sponsored unsigned band contest that landed them a performance on the American Music Awards. By this point, Carbon Leaf was also regularly opening shows for adult alternative-friendly acts like DMB, John Mayer, Guster, and David Gray, and the band documented their frequent and vibrant live shows with the 2002 double live set 5 Alive! Indian Summer appeared in 2004. Issued through Vanguard, it was Carbon Leaf's first recording for any label other than their own, and the strongest example yet of their polite, astute, and engaging sound. It was followed in 2006 by Love Loss Hope Repeat.

SONGS OF MALI: ROKIA TRAORE
Presented by: World Music Institute
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 7:00pm
$28
Malian singer Rokia Traore burst onto the world music scene in 1997 when she was awarded the Radio France Internationale prize for African Discovery of the Year. Traore, who sings almost exclusively in her native Bamanan language, has achieved international critical and popular acclaim as one of the most innovative stylists to emerge in the West African singing tradition. With the release of each of her three CDs, Traore has garnered increasing praise, and her third CD, Mouneïssa, was awarded BBC Radio 3's Critics Award in 2004. Difficult to classify, Traore's work blends traditional African music with an array of musical influences, ranging from classical to jazz, and from folk to blues to Western pop. Traore is especially praised for her live performances, during which she enthralls audiences with her hypnotic singing and graceful dancing.

Sunday, April 18
REVEREND BILLY + THE LIFE AFTER SHOPPING GOSPEL CHOIR
Doors at 12:00pm, Show at 1:00pm
$12
Reverend Billy and the Life After Shopping Gospel Choir believe that Consumerism is overwhelming our lives. The corporations want us to have experiences only through their products. Our neighborhoods, "commons" places like stoops and parks and streets and libraries, are disappearing into the corporatized world of big boxes and chain stores. But if we "back away from the product" - even a little bit, well then we Put The Odd Back In God! The supermodels fly away and we're left with our original sensuality. So we are singing and preaching for local economies and real - not mediated through products - experience.

Sunday, April 18
SWING OUT SISTER
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$26.50 adv, $30 at door
Although Swing Out Sister's music is unashamedly commercial pop, their impeccable indie credentials, jazz-tinged arrangements, and knack for clever hooks move them closer to the indie dance territory of St. Etienne or late period Everything but the Girl than to the cookie-cutter dance-pop of Kylie Minogue or Paula Abdul. Formed in 1985, Swing Out Sister enjoys continued success in Japan and a devoted cult following in the U.S. and Europe.

Monday, April 19
LUNASA
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$20
Named for an ancient Celtic harvest festival in honor of the Irish god Lugh, patron of the arts, Lúnasa is indeed a gathering of some of the top musical talents in Ireland. Its members have helped formed the backbone of some of the greatest Irish groups of the decade. Bassist Trevor Hutchinson was a key member of The Waterboys, and later he, with guitarist Donogh Hennessy, would form the dynamic rhythm section of The Sharon Shannon Band. Paul Meehan (Karan Casey Band, North Cregg) has recently replaced Hennessy. Fiddler Sean Smyth is an All-Ireland champion who has played with Donal Lunny's Coolfin; Kevin Crawford, considered to be among the finest flutists in Ireland played with the acclaimed traditional group Moving Cloud; and, piper Cillian Vallely of the famous Vallely artistic clan. Folk Roots magazine has rightly termed them an "Irish music dream team."

Tuesday, April 20
THE TALLEST MAN ON EARTH
with Nurses
Doors at 8:00pm, Show at 9:00pm
$16 adv, $18 at door
It is impossible to discuss The Tallest Man on Earth's music without acknowledging Bob Dylan. The seeming effortlessness, the melodic sensibility and the deft lyricism all recall Dylan's early years. But when you witness the Tallest Man on Earth perform live, you are watching a man possessed. The energy pours out with every word. Full of intensity and raw emotion, he paces the stage, bringing the audience into the palm of his hand, completely lost in his songs.

Thursday, April 22
GREGORY ALAN ISAKOV
with Rosi Golan
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$10 adv, $12 at door
Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Gregory Alan Isakov's song-craft lends to the deepest lyrical masterpieces. With hints of his influences, Leonard Cohen, Iron and Wine and Kelly Joe Phelps, Gregory Alan Isakov has been described as "strong, subtle, a lyrical genius" and has shared the stage with touring artists such as Calexico, Ani Difranco, Brandi Carlile, Indigo Girls, Richie Havens, and Fiona Apple.

BRADY RYMER & THE LITTLE BAND THAT COULD
Doors at 12:00pm, Show at 1:00pm
$15 adv, $20 at door
**Included with your purchase is a two-year subscription to Time Out New York Kids (value $19.90).
Join the family rave-up: every generation will connect to this band's strong, straight-ahead grooves, catchy choruses, and a down-home, boogie-woogie, hip-shakin' vibe you can't resist. Brady Rymer toured and recorded with RCA's From Good Homes for thirteen years, sharing the stage with Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews and Bob Weir, before parenthood broadened the scope of his music. Five albums and countless live shows later, he's established himself as one of the country's most exciting creators of music for the whole family.

Saturday, April 24
KRANTZ CARLOCK LEFEBVRE
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 7:00pm
$19.99 adv, $25 at door
Over the past two decades, Krantz has regularly mined a perilous, unguardedly pure strain of improvisation, set into the context of some of the heaviest, most individualized mind/body band grooves out there today. The clarity and integrity of his music is mirrored by his uncluttered business model and rigorous philosophical outlook. Now, with Krantz Carlock Lefebvre, his first album for Abstract Logix, he is returning to a recording studio to document his own music for the first time in over fifteen years.

Sunday, April 25
CéU
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$25 adv, $30 at door
CéU's success story in the past year has been phenomenal for the young artist out of Sao Paolo Brazil. Her self-titled debut has sold over 180,000 copies worldwide including Brazil, Canada, Japan, and Europe with close to 100,000 copies scanned in the U.S. alone. She was the first international artist featured in the Starbucks Hear MusicTM Debut series which led to unprecedented Billboard chart numbers for a Brazilian female artist -- #1 on the World Music and Heatseekers Chart, and #57 on the Billboard Hot 100 - the highest position reached in that category by a Brazilian since Astrud Gilberto's "Garota de Ipanema" in the 1960's. Her album was also the iTunes U.S. editor's pick for "world music album of the year." If that wasn't enough, she received a Grammy nomination for "best contemporary world music album" in 2007 and a Latin Grammy nomination for "best new artist" in 2006.

Tuesday, April 27
SALIVA
Doors at 7:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$15 adv, $18 at door
"Deadly" is the perfect word to describe their new album, Saliva's follow-up to their smash Back Into Your System. With its classic heavy riffs, monstrous hooks, and searing, often unprintable lyrics, it's raucous rock that starts on a precipitous downhill and gathers momentum as it rolls.

Friday, April 30
OZOMATLI
Doors at 8:00pm, Show at 9:00pm
$22 adv, $25 at door
In their fourteen years together as a band, celebrated Los Angeles culture-mashers Ozomatli have gone from being hometown heroes to being named U.S. State Department Cultural Ambassadors. Ozomatli has always juggled two key identities. They are the voice of their city and they are citizens of the world. Their music-- a notorious urban-Latino-and-beyond collision of hip hop and salsa, dancehall and cumbia, samba and funk, merengue and comparsa, East LA R&B and New Orleans second line, Jamaican ragga and Indian raga-- has long followed a key mantra: it will take you around the world by taking you around L.A. Begun as a product of the city's grassroots political scene, Ozomatli have played in places like Tunisia, India, Jordan, and Nepal rousing free public concerts and offered musical workshops, master classes and visited arts centers, summer camps, youth rehabilitation centers, and even a Palestinian refugee camp.
