Neil Patrick Harris and longtime partner David Burtka welcomed twins Gideon Scott and Harper Grace this October with the help of a surrogate. The happy parents are featured in a new People magazine spread.

"We inserted two eggs, one with my sperm, one with David's sperm and they both took," says Harris. People reports that the couple found holding their children in the delivery room shortly after their birth was "just absolute joy," says Burtka. "We had two babies that we made. With help."

"Babies!!" Neil Patrick Harris previously shared via Twitter. "On 10/12, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace entered the Burtka-Harris fold. All of us are happy, healthy, tired, and a little pukey."

News of the expecting parents was announced in August. At the Emmy's Harris told Ryan Seacrest, "I'm trying to read as much as I can, and prep as much as I can. But there's only so much you can do because each baby is super individual and totally their own person ... [I'm] very, very excited. It's the big, crazy calm before the ridiculous storm."

Harris currently appears on the sitcom, 'How I Met Your Mother,' but his Broadway credits include SWEENEY TODD, PROOF, CABARET and ASSASSINS. Burtka, no stranger to Broadway himself, appeared as Tulsa in the 2003 revival of GYPSY starring Bernadette Peters. Before that, in 2001, he won a Clarence Derwent Award for most promising male performer in Edward Albee's THE PLAY ABOUT THE BABY.
