On August 7th, Christopher J. Hanke--last seen on Broadway in In My Life--will take on the role of Mark Cohen in the Broadway production of Rent.

Hanke will replace Matt Caplan, who departs the production on August 5th.

Hanke made his Broadway debut in In My Life. Off-Broadway, he has been seen in Fame on 42nd Street, while his national tour credits include Big River and The Full Monty.  Regional credits include Baby and The Matchmaker.

Rent, Jonathan Larson's iconic musical about love, friendship and death in Greenwich Village, has played over 4,200 performances at the Nederlander Theatre, where it opened on April 29th, 1996.  The show currently stars Tim Howar as Roger, Antonique Smith as Mimi, Justin Johnston as Angel, Destan Owens as Tom Collins, Ava Gaudet as Maureen, Nicole Lewis as Joanne, D'Monroe as Benny and Frenchie Davis as the "Seasons of Love" soloist.  A recent film version, directed by Chris Columbus, starred much of the original Broadway cast.
