HAIR Cast to Be Unveiled Throughout Week; First Tribe Members Announced Include Central Park Cast Members

Over consecutive days this week (beginning today), the 26-member Broadway cast of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical, will be announced by Oskar Eustis, Artistic Directorof The Public Theater.

The first HAIR cast members to be confirmed are Lauren Elder (Tribe), Allison Guinn (Tribe), Anthony Hollock (Tribe), John Moauro (Tribe) and Ato Blankson-Wood (Tribe), all of whom were in the Tribe in Central Park last summer and will be making their Broadway debuts.

In a statement, Mr. Eustis said "The Tribe of HAIR has grown into a stunning, sexy, organic ensemble over thelast year and a half. Lauren, Allison, Anthony, John and Ato embody the spirit of love that makes this production such an extraordinary celebration."

As previously announced, Gavin Creel will play the role of "Claude." Additional casting news will be announced tomorrow (Tuesday).

HAIR will begin preview performances on Friday, March 6, with Opening Night set for Tuesday, March 31, at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street, New York City). Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel, the producing team that helped bring the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening to Broadway, have joined forces with The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) - as co-lead producers - to present the upcoming Broadway production.

The $5.5 million production of HAIR will reunite most of the creative team of last summer‟s staging at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park: director Diane Paulus, set designer Scott Pask, costume designer Michael McDonald, sound designer Acme Sound Partners, and choreographer Karole Armitage. Kevin Adams has been signed to design the lighting for the Broadway production.

Recently cited on more than 25 10-BEST-OF-THE-YEAR THEATER lists, including The New York Times, New York Magazine, Newsday, Time Out New York, and TIME Magazine, HAIR features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, and music by Galt MacDermot.

Lauren Elder (Tribe)

Hometown: Laguna Beach, CA
Lauren feels so excited to make her Broadway debut as a hippie! She also appeared in Hair in Central Park and the 40th Anniversary concert. Recently, Lauren has sung at many NYC clubs, including Jazz at Lincoln Center and performed with The Honeybuns, a 1940s-style trio. She studied musical theatre at Circle in the Square Theatre School.

Allison Guinn (Tribe)
Zodiac Sign: Capricorn
Hometown: Erwin, TN
Allison is making her Broadway debut! New York credits include Williamsburg! The Musical (2007 Fringe Festival NYC), Urinetown as well as Victor/Victoria with The Gallery Players of Brooklyn, and Red Hot Mama: Hard Rock Comedy of New York City. Holding a B.A. in Theatre from East Tennessee State University, and Circle in the Square Theatre School's Professional Program, Allison is also a proud member of Actors‟ Equity Association. Anthony Hollock (Tribe)

Hometown: Pittsburgh, PA

John Moauro (Tribe)

Hometown: Canton, OH
This is John‟s Broadway debut. He started this journey with Hair in the 2007 concert version and then in last summer's Shakespeare in the Park cast. Regional and favorite credits include: Honk! (Ugly), Into the Woods (Jack), Hair (Claude), Jesus Christ Superstar, Dames at Sea, and WSS. BFA, Kent State University. Proud member of Equity. Love!

Ato Blankson-Wood (Tribe)
Zodiac Sign: Virgo
Hometown: Silver Spring, MD
