The following weekend, for the second year in a row, the theater will host a 24-hour improv marathon for charity, followed by a roast 2014. Finally, Go Comedy! will bring the year to a close with two very special New Year's Eve performances of the Go Comedy! All Star Showdown. The Holiday Improv Project
On Tuesday, December 23 at 7:30 pm Go Comedy! will welcome home some of Detroit's most famous improvisers for a one-night benefit event for The Detroit Creativity Project. The Holiday Improv Project will feature Sam Richardson (Veep - HBO), Tim Robinson (Saturday Night Live- NBC), Marc Evan Jackson (Brooklyn Nine Nine - FOX), Phred Brown (Bruno Mars), Margaret Edwartowski (Y-Arts executive director, Planet Ant Theatre, Second City Detroit Alumna) & more special guests. Faced with a challenging economy and tightening budgets, schools nationwide have substantially reduced funding for arts programming. The Detroit Creativity Project (DCP) was founded in 2011 by working artists who believe that arts education provides a critical element of learning for all students, and is not an expendable part of the curriculum. Whether painting, playing music, or taking the stage, the arts allow students to develop skills they need now and in the future. Tickets for this fundraiser event are $25 and available now at gocomedy.net.
