The New York Times says "To hear Gay Marshall sing with heart-stirring transparency is to experience Brel's art in its purest and most persuasive form."  She was also named by Playbill as one of the "Top Ten Divas of 2006" for her performance in the recent long running hit revival of JACQUES BREL IS ALIVE AND WELL AND LIVING IN PARIS, After a much applauded performance in BREL, the fabulous Gay Marshall returns to the ZIpper Theater for two solo concerts on June 19th and 26th.  Singing an eclectic array of songs with the accent on Piaf and Brel, Ms. Marshall, accompanied by the outstanding trio of musicians from Brel, describes the pros and cons of living on both sides of the ocean and the challenge of trying to fit in with the French in excerpts from her one woman show If I Were Me.

Marshall made her Broadway debut as Diana Morales in "A CHORUS LINE". Her one woman show "PIAF : LA VIE L'AMOUR" played in the States and took her to Paris where she played Grizabella in the original French production of "CATS". Living in Europe inspired her to write "IF I WERE ME", a comedy that she performed in Paris and took to the Edinburgh Festival where it was voted #2 on the Fringe. In Paris she has appeared in many English speaking plays and French musicals with Roger Louret at the Follies Bergere, and the original version of "CAMILLE CLAUDEL" in the title role. She now performs regularly in America, most recently in "JACQUES BREL" at Capital Rep, and as Denise in both Goodspeed and Paper Mill's productions of "THE BAKER'S WIFE". For her work in the recent production of "JACQUES BREL" at the Zipper Theater, she received a nomination for Drama League's "Distinguished Performance Award".
