Friedman Talks 'NORMAN', 'JULIE' and UK 'LA CAGE' Bdwy Transfer Desire to Variety

Variety reveals that with four of her smash London productions in the running for a collective 13 Olivier Awards and two Broadway transfers likely to figure in the Tony race for play revival, Sonia Friedman might be forgiven for slowing down. But she is doing nothing of the sort in addition to setting up the New York transfer of Matthew Warchus' acclaimed revival of Alan Ayckbourn's "The Norman Conquests," Friedman is readying Anna Mackmin's staging of Brian Friel's "Dancing at Lughnasa" at the Old Vic; Roger Michell's new take on "Rope" at the Almeida; and a Broadway production, with Roundabout and Bill Haber, of Patrick Marber's "After Miss Julie," with Mark Brokaw directing a cast led by Sienna Miller.

Variety also reports that while Friedman's immediate roster of projects is extensive enough, the full list of properties to which she holds the rights is roughly four times longer. Chief among them is her current hit West End transfer of the Menier Chocolate Factory production of "La Cage aux Folles," which she's "very, very keen" to take to Broadway, largely to showcase Douglas Hodge in his star-making turn as drag hausfrau Albin.

Tickets are now on sale for The Old Vic's critically acclaimed production of THE NORMAN CONQUESTS, a comedy trilogy of plays by Alan Ayckbourn, directed by Matthew Warchus. The production begins performances on Tuesday, April 7 and opens Thursday, April 23 at Circle in the Square Theatre (235 West 50th Street). The first Broadway revival of Ayckbourn's masterpiece will feature the original heralded company from The Old Vic: Amelia Bullmore (Ruth), Jessica Hynes (Annie), Stephen Mangan (Norman), Ben Miles (Tom), Paul Ritter (Reg) and Amanda Root (Sarah).

THE NORMAN CONQUESTS will be produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Marc Routh, Richard Frankel, Steven Baruch, Tom Viertel, Dede Harris, Tulchin/Bartner/Lauren Doll, Harriet Newman Leve, Probo Productions, Eric Falkenstein/Jamie DeRoy, Michael Filerman/Jennifer Manocherian, in association with Pam Laudenslager/Remmel T.
