The Addison Art Gallery's Verley's 2013 Exhibition will include complimentary tours of the French Cable Station Museum accompanied by champagne and the Opening Artist's Reception with live music in French and English and French wines and cheeses.

Verley's inspiration is a quest for the essentiality in life, leading him to discover the salutary power of color. His themes include landscapes, people at work and at leisure, the shore and sea. He paints the streets of Paris, the light of Morocco and Spain, and stunning scenes from Japan. Olivier has shown throughout France, in China, Japan and Morocco. In the United States, he is exclusively represented by the Addison Art Gallery of Orleans.

When the French Cable Station was in operation, it was the American termination point for a telegraph cable that ran to Orleans from France. The station was built in 1891 and the cable ran under the Atlantic Ocean for almost 3,200 miles. During World War I, General Pershing in France communicated with the US Government through this cable station. In 1927 the message that Charles Lindbergh had landed in Paris came through this station from Paris. It was then sent to the rest of the United States. It remained in operation until 1959 except for a few years (1940 - 1952) during WWII when it was closed for security reasons.
