"The Song of Job 9:11" a musical oratorio that combines documentary text of the events of 9/11/2001 and excerpts from the Old Testament Book of Job with a stirring popularly accessible classical score will be performed five times this September in various locations throughout New York City to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy. Admission to all performances will be free.

"The Song of Job 9:11" offers an eloquent and comforting way for the public to come together in shared remembrance during the upcoming 10th Anniversary of 9/11. Written in the immediate aftermath of 9/11/2001 by the critically acclaimed composer Danny Ashkenasi, it has been performed a dozen times since early 2002 in concert as well as dramatically staged. Backstage Magazine declared it "a stark and compelling work" that "forged a powerful testament both to the nature of despair and the indomitable will of mankind, culminating in a cathartic finale".

14 singers and 3 musicians will perform the 60 minute work at the following locations and times:

September 9 - 8pm - 15th Street Meeting House - 15 Rutherford Place @15th Str. near 2nd Ave

September 10 - 2pm - 15th Street Meeting House ? 15 Rutherford Place @15th Str. near 2nd Ave

September 11 - 7pm - Theater for the New City ? 155 1st Ave btw 9th & 10th Str.

September 15 - 7pm - The Children's School, Brooklyn ? PS 372 1st Str. entrance btw 3rd & 4th Aves

September 16 - 8pm - The Village Temple - 33 East 12th Str. btw Broadway & University.

Danny Ashkenasi is an American composer/actor who was born and raised in Berlin, Germany. His musical "Witches" has been produced dozens of times in Germany and Austria. His recent musicals "beTwixt, beTween & beTWAIN" and "I Too Sing America" have been critical and popular successes at the Metropolitan Playhouse and the Producer's Club. Martin Denton of NYtheatre.com declared Ashkenasi "a musical voIce That demands attention" and Mark Sevitt of HiDrama! said "It seems like Danny Ashkenasi's ambition is to compose the Great American Literary Songbook, and he is up to the task."
