Franklin Stage Company presents Arthur Miller's compelling family drama The Price, opening Friday, August 18th, and running Wednesdays - Sundays through September 3rd. A preview performance will be open to the public Thursday, August 17th.

A master of the American drama, Miller explores the themes of identity, regret and family obligation in this tale of two estranged brothers who gather in the attic of their childhood home to confront their shared past. The Franz family, once very wealthy Manhattanites, lost their fortune in the stock market crash of 1929. As the Great Depression took its toll on the family, brothers Victor and Walter took very different paths that set them at odds. Sixteen years after their father's death, the family home is slated for demolition and they are forced to meet to sell their deceased parents' belongings. Victor's wife Esther, and an old furniture dealer who's come to assess a value on the possessions, witness the long-awaited reunion.

The Price is sometimes overshadowed by Miller's better known works such as The Crucible and View from the Bridge, but as a recent Broadway revival of The Price proved, the play is as powerful and relevant today as it was when it was first produced in 1967.

"We chose The Price because it is a taut, absorbing, carefully crafted powerhouse that refuses to pass judgment," said FSC Co-Artistic Directors Patricia Buckley and Leslie Noble. "Just when you begin to take sides, Miller reveals hidden truths, and one is left directly in the center of the brothers' longing for connection."

Franklin Stage Company's production will feature Charlie Kevin in the role of policeman Victor Franz. Playing the role of his brother, Doctor Walter Franz, will be Sean Cullen. Robert Zukerman will portray furniture dealer Gregory Solomon, and rounding out the cast will be Patricia Buckley as Victor's wife, Esther Franz, All actors are members of Actors' Equity Association, the union for professional actors and stage managers. Leslie Noble will direct.
