Florence Henderson & Eve Plumb Reunite for 'Broadway Backward's 5,' 2/22

For the first time, Broadway veteran, Florence Henderson, will appear on the boards of the Great White Way with TV daughter Eve Plumb (Jan Brady) during Broadway Backwards 5, hosted by Ms. Henderson, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on Monday, February 22nd at 8pm. In addition to the Broadway Backwards engagement, both ladies are in town for their own shows (Stage and Gallery).

Broadway Backwards 5 is the annual one-night-only concert benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center. The event begins at 8pm at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre. Broadway Backwards features some of Broadway's biggest names singing songs originally written for the opposite gender: women singing songs written for men and men singing song written for women. By keeping all of the lyrics intact, including the original pronouns, each song takes on an entirely new dimension, sometimes with hysterical results and sometimes with immensely touching results. The show's creator Robert Bartley is returning as director and choreographer of this special evening with musical direction by Wayne Barker.

Previously announced performers for Broadway Backwards 5 include Le a Salonga, Tituss Burgess (Guys and Dolls, The Little Mermaid), Mario Cantone (Sex and the City, Laugh Whore), Raul Esparza (Speed-the-Plow, Company), Becki Newton (ABC's "Ugly Betty", Girl Crazy at Encores!), Tony Award-winner Tonya Pinkins (Caroline, or Change; Jelly's Last Jam), Gary Beach (Tony-winner for The Producers), Len Cariou (Tony-winner for the original Sweeney Todd), Tony Goldwyn (upcoming revival of Promises, Promises and the film Ghost), Aaron Lazar (A Little Night Music, The Light in the Piazza), Michele Lee (Two-time Tony Award nominee) and Julia Murney (The Wild Party, Wicked).

Ms. Henderson will be appearing in New York with her critically acclaimed one-woman production of ALL THE LIVES OF ME...A Musical Journey, under the musical direction of Emmy award-winning Composer Glen Roven, at Joe's Pub (Friday Feb 12th and Saturday, Feb 13th at 7:00pm).

Ms. Plumb will be simultaneously presenting a gallery exhibition of her new oil on canvas paintings entitled "BISTRO" at the GINA Gallery of International Art (February 14, 2010 - February 28, 2010; Opening Reception: Thursday, February 18, 2010, 6-8PM - 454 Columbus Ave. New York, NY 10024).

A crowd-pleasing evening with "America's Favorite TV Mom," features songs from her starring roles in such Broadway hits as OKLAHOMA, SOUTH PACIFIC, SOUND OF MUSIC and ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, as well as personal anecdotes of a life on the boards of Broadway and the Brady set. Undisputedly, one of the most outstanding careers on film, in television and on stage, her enthusiasm, professionalism, commitment to quality and artistry, has made Miss Henderson one of the most respected and well-liked performers of our time. While Eve Plumb maybe best known for her pop icon role of middle child "Jan" on "The Brady Bunch," it is as an established artist with numerous national gallery exhibits that Ms. Eve Plumb is now becoming famous. The two-week exhibition at the GINA Gallery marks the debut of Plumb's work in Manhattan. For the first time in New York, the artist's original works ranging in size from 9" x 12" to 30" x 40" will be showcased in a solo exhibition in the gallery's custom 2,000 square foot space on the Upper West Side. Works from the "Bistro" series depict simple, striking tabletop scenes in quiet cafes, restaurants and coffee houses. "I decided to focus on small intimate moments from my own life," explains Plumb. "I started noticing when sunlight hit items in the house in an interesting way and photographing them." These photographs are then transformed into moody scenes of peaceful still life, void of figures, rendered in dusky palettes - the themes and treatment of light, a subtle nod to Edward Hopper. Ms Plumb has been working in television, movies, and stage since the age of six, and has been painting steadily for the last 20 years. Self taught, Plumb has been focusing on still life for her subject matter, painting moments from her everyday life and travels, Plumb states that painting "gives me a feeling of control over my creative life." The artist's work is currently represented by galleries in California, Massachusetts, Scottsdale, and Tennessee.
