Two special industry-only readings of ZAPATA! The Musical have been announced and will take place in New York City on April 15 and 16. Luke Caliente Productions will present the new musical which has music and lyrics by Peter Edwards with a book by Peter & Ana Edwards. Direction will be helmed by J. Scott Lapp.

The cast features Enrique Acevedo as the dashing and romantic Emiliano Zapata along with Andrea Goss, Marco Zunino, Natalie Toro, Tony Chiroldes, Javier Ignacio, Blanca Carnacho, Victor Hernandez, Jennifer Sanchez, Jen Anaya, Erin Maya, Vanessa Diaz, Joline Mujica, Nick Devito, Jordan DeLeon, Joshua Cavanaugh, and Marco Santiago.

Peter Edwards, a popular songwriter in Nashville, has written chart-topping songs for Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Loretta Lynn, and Willie Nelson. Collaborating with his wife Ana, he has also written a series of popular children's books including Miguelito and the Turtle, Four Heads are Better Than One and A Gator Named Sonny.

Emiliano Zapata was one of the leading figures in the Mexican Revolution. One hundred years ago in a village outside Mexico City, the people enlisted a reluctant, young Zapata to help reclaim their stolen ancestral lands. Battered by the conflicting passions of his enchanting wife, his hotheaded brother and a succession of corrupt presidents, Zapata must ultimately relinquish his love of peace to fight-and sacrifice-for a greater cause.
