Theresa, a single mother with a difficult teenage daughter, works as a cleaning lady for the rectory of a local Catholic Church. There she meets Matthew, a priest experiencing a crisis of faith. When Matthew is suddenly temporarily relieved of his duties Theresa, who has recently started to embrace the existence of God, is compelled to search for him. Finding him at the home of his well intentioned, but clueless mother, Matthew seems indifferent about Theresa's journey. However, after her mischievous daughter inadvertently causes a local teenage boy to have a serious accident both Theresa's and Matthew's issues of faith begin to colloid.
