Edward Albee, one of America's finest dramatists, will make a rare public appearance at the Drama Book Shop, 250 West 40th Street, on Thursday, December 10th at 5:30 p.m.
Mr. Albee will moderate a conversation with Tony Award winning playwright David Henry Hwang about his play, Yellow Face, just out in a new edition. Francis Jue, who won an Obie for his performance in Yellow Face, will do a reading.
The event is free. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. A book signing will follow.
Yellow Face is a mock documentary about a playwright (Hwang) that began with the controversy of casting a white actor in the Asian lead in Miss Siagon, which Hwang wrote. It delves into identity and race in America, ripe themes for a conversation today.
Said the New York Times in its review: "Hwang's lively and provocative cultural self-portrait lets nobody off the hook."
