EVERYBODY'S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE Leads November's Top 10 New London Shows

London is never short of temptations, whether splashy West End shows, epic dramas or bold fringe offerings. From a new British musical to starry Mamet and cheeky burlesque, here are some of this month's most eye-catching openings. Don't forget to check back for BroadwayWorld's reviews...

1. Everybody's Talking About Jamie, Apollo Theatre

A big hit at Sheffield Crucible, this new British musical - based on a documentary - about a teenage boy coming out as a drag queen gets a deserved West End transfer. It stars John McCrea, Josie Walker, Tamsin Carroll and Mina Anwar, with a score by Dan Gillespie Sells of The Feeling.

2. Glengarry Glen Ross, Playhouse Theatre

The first major revival in over a decade, Sam Yates's production of David Mamet's masterpiece, set in the office of cut-throat Chicago real estate salesmen, features an impressive line-up: Christian Slater returns to the London stage, alongside Stanley Townsend, Robert Glenister, Kris Marshall and Don Warrington.

3. Big Fish, The Other Palace

Receiving a belated UK premiere, this musical version of the beloved book and Tim Burton movie is directed by Nigel Harmon and stars Kelsey Grammer as the tall tale-telling father, plus Clare Burt, Matthew Seadon-Young and Frances McNamee. Andrew Lippa's score is joined by a new book from John August.

4. Network, National Theatre

Bryan Cranston is the TV anchor who's mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. Lee Hall adapts Paddy Chayefsky's Oscar-winning movie about an eerily familiar media dystopia, and Ivo van Hove helms a cast that also features Michelle Dockery, Douglas Henshall, Michael Elwyn and Ian Drysdale.

5. The Red Lion, Trafalgar Studios

Patrick Marber's latest play, which landed at the National in 2015, is back in London in a revival from Live Theatre. Exploring loyalty, ambition, disappointment and the need to belong, it focuses on a young football player, veteran kit man and determined manager. Max Roberts directs Stephen Tompkinson, John Bowler and Dean Bone.

6. The Woman in White, Charing Cross Theatre

Thom Southerland directs the premiere of this revised version of Andrew Lloyd Webber and David Zippel's 2004 musical, based on Wilkie Collins' haunting Victorian tale of love, betrayal and greed. The cast features Anna O'Byrne, Chris Peluso, Carolyn Maitland, Ashley Stillburn, Greg Castiglioni and Sophie Reeves.

7. Marnie, London Coliseum

Celebrated classical composer Nico Muhly's new work for English National Opera is a tense psychological thriller set in late Fifties England, where a young woman commits fraud to create a better life for herself. Michael Mayer directs a cast that includes Sasha Cooke, Lesley Garrett and Daniel Okulitch.

8. The Suppliant Women, Young Vic

David Grieg's feminist epic take on Aeschylus was lauded on its Edinburgh debut last year for bringing a 2,500-year-old tale bang up to date. Ramin Gray directs a production that features a chorus of local women, telling the story of the refugee crisis and asking what it means to seek asylum.

9. La Soirée, Aldwych Theatre

The naughty cabaret favourite returns, with its signature brand of circus sideshow, cheeky burlesque and contemporary variety - expect everything from skates, hula hoops and aerial to sultry singers and diva drag. There's also family-friendly version La Petite Soirée, delivering all of the above, minus the sauce.

10. Sylvia, Royal Opera House

Set to a gorgeous Delibes score, Frederick Ashton's second full-length ballet - about Diana's adventurous nymph - was created for his muse Margot Fonteyn and memorably danced by Darcey Bussell. Now, the Royal Ballet cast features Marianela Nuñez, Lauren Cuthbertson, Natalia Osipova, Vadim Muntagirov, Thiago Soares and Reece Clarke.
