EVER AFTER Heading to Broadway After Run at Paper Mill Playhouse?

Paper Mill Playhouse just opened the world-premiere musical Ever After, directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall (Anything Goes, Nice Work If You Can Get It), featuring a book and lyrics by Marcy Heisler and music by Zina Goldrich. With several recent Paper Mill productions having gone on to enjoy runs on Broadway, the question on everyone's mind is whether this new musical has a future on the Great White Way. In a recent article for the Bergen Record, lyricist Heisler explained: "Broadway is not the goal, a great show is the goal." The show's composer Goldrich continued: "We don't get to decide whether it's commercial, We only get to decide whether it sounds good to us. You try to write something you would like to see, and you hope others will, too."

On the recent success of Paper Mill, Artistic Director Marl S. Hoebee continued: "I would say Paper Mill is an integral cog in the creation of new musicals. We also have a great respect for the tradition that came before us."
