Dramatists Guild of America Awards Nottage & Others With Lifetime Achievement 11/1

The Dramatists Guild of America is pleased to announce the recipients of their annual awards, which will be distributed at an awards ceremony Monday, November 1, 2010, at the Hudson Theater in New York.
This year's awards go to Lynn Nottage, recipient of the 2009 Hull-Warriner Award, for her play Ruined; John Kander, recipient of the Frederick Loewe Award for Dramatic Composition, for his score to The Scottsboro Boys; Michael Weller, recipient of the Flora Roberts Award; and Jerry Bock & Sheldon Harnick and Terrence McNally, recipients of the Dramatists Guild Award for Lifetime Achievement. The Hull-Warriner Award is the only award given by dramatists to dramatists; it is presented annually by the Dramatists Guild Council to an author or team of authors in recognition of their play dealing with controversial subjects involving the fields of political, religious or social mores of the times. Previous winners include David Ives, Tracy Letts, Steven Sater & Duncan Sheik, Marsha Norman, and Dael Orlandersmith. The 2009 finalists were The Brother/Sister Plays by Tarell Alvin McCraney; Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker; Looking for the Pony by Andrea Lepcio; and The Orphans' Home Cycle by Horton Foote.Photo Credit: Walter McBride/Retna Ltd.
