Dorks in Dungeons Sets Holiday Special at Seacoast Rep

It's Wispmas Time in the Kingdom of Continentia and the comedy improv adventurers of Dorks in Dungeons will play out their third annual Holiday Special on the stage of the Seacoast Repertory Theatre with. The Dorks will be joined by special guest improvisers Stranger Than Fiction, another Seacoast improve troupe with a devoted following. The show promises to blend the best of both groups' comedy.

The show follows the story of a fantastical delivery service, The Special Parcel Service, as they try (and usually fail) to make their heroic deliveries in the face of grave danger and their own incompetence. Game Master Brian Kelly guides the action while a band of improvisers plays the rotating cast of characters helping or hindering our heroes. Their success or failure is determined by the roll of a 20-sided die, reminiscent of role playing games like Dungeons & Dragons.

"Stranger Than Fiction paved the way for us in a lot of ways," says Kelly. "They're going to make us look like beginners out there."

The Dorks have recently returned from a string of perfomances in Halifax, Nova Scotia for two shows at HalCon, the largest sci-fi and fantasy convention on Canada's Eastern Seaboard. They have written a book about the game they designed and play onstage, The Dorks in Dungeons Campaign Gide and Roleplaying Game. This third season is sponsored by Pickwicks Mercantile.

Tickets for Dorks in Dungeons are $12 online for VIP tickets or pay-what-you-can at the door for general admission.
