Delaware Art Museum Cancels New Year's Eve Party
The Delaware Art Museum has canceled its annual New Year's Eve party due to not enough tickets being sold.
The News Journal reports that ticket holders have been notified that they will receive refunds by the museum officials. This would have been the third year for the party.
The event drew more than 250 people last year. Spokeswoman Jessica Jenkins says many people purchased tickets at the door last year, but the museum didn't receive enough pre-registrations this year. Fewer than 100 tickets were sold. Jenkins says the museum is disappointed about canceling.
The museum increased ticket prices to $75 for members and $100 for non-members. It included an open bar, live music and late-night snacks as guests browsed the museum's art collection. Last year, tickets were $65 for members and $75 for non-members.
The Delaware Art Museum is a private, not-for-profit arts organization. It is supported by earned and contributed income and is not owned or controlled by the State of Delaware. The Museum is best known for its large collection of British Pre-Raphaelite art, works by Wilmington-native Howard Pyle and fellow American illustrators, and urban landscapes by John Sloan and his circle. The Delaware Art Museum connects people to art, offering an inclusive and essential community resource that through its collections, exhibitions, and programs generates creative energy that sustains, enriches, empowers, and inspires.
