Deadeline.com's Mike Fleming is reporting that singer Ricky Martin has signed on as the role of 'Che' in the upcoming Broadway revival of 'Evita' to be helmed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice slated for 2011-2012.

From Deadline.com: "I've heard that Ricky Martin has committed for a year-long run as Che Guevara. He's no stunt casting--Martin has stage experience that includes Les Miserables--but he's protection for backers who want Elena Rogers to play Eva Peron. She doesn't have the name recognition here and Evita isn't as branded as Phantom of the Opera is."

Journalist Mike Fleming also is an author. In 1999, Doubleday published his non-fiction book about The Three Stooges, From Amalgamated Morons to American Icons, which ABC turned into a telepic executive produced by Mel Gibson (who wrote a forward to the book) and Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. Fleming also has freelanced for many national magazines, including Playboy, Details, TV Guide, and Esquire. He turns 50 this April.
