As part of its series of education seminars, the New York Musical Theatre Festival will present "Dream Dialogue: A Conversation with David Zippel" on Wednesday, September 27, 6:00-7:30pm at ASCAP.

Michael Kerker, Director of Musical Theatre/ASCAP, "will talk with Tony-winning lyricist  Zippel about his writing process—from personal inspirations to overcoming demons and creative blocks.  This unique opportunity to be a fly-on-the-wall also includes a special guest artist singing songs from David's repertoire as he reveals the secrets behind his success!," according to NYMF notes.

Zippel's work for the stage includes the The Woman In White (with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber) and Princesses (with music by Matthew Wilder); the latter is Broadway-bound. Other credits include the noir musical comedy City of Angels, for which he won the 1990 Tony Award for Best Original Score (shared with composer Cy Coleman) and The Goodbye Girl (with music by Marvin Hamlisch). Zippel has also written lyrics for Oscar-nominated songs from the Disney hits Mulan and Hercules, some of which have also scored on the pop charts.

The seminar is free, although NYMF members are welcome to reserve ahead of time.
