Award-winning actor David Alan Grier and Richard Thomas who are currently starring on Broadway in David Mamet's RACE will host the Canal Room's benefit concert, "Light for Haiti," on Sunday, February 28, @ 8 p.m. at The Canal Room ( 285 West Broadway) in Soho.
The benefit has been organized and produced by a team of New York-based artists, led by Terra Mackintosh, Jean "Q" Pierre, Marciel Greene, and Claire Buffie
The music and voices of Broadway, the passion of spoken word and slam poetry, the rhythm of Indie rock, R&B and reggae will all join together in one with performances by Janine DiVita (GREASE), Michael Lanning (THE CIVIL WAR), Scott Alan (Singer/Songwriter), Leigh-Taylor Smith (Miss NY 2008) and many more. The "Light for Haiti" producers have partnered with GHESKIO Medical Center in Port Au Prince, which establishes refugee camps and field hospitals for thousands of the earthquake survivors and continues AIDS care.
