While even savvy New York theatregoers aren't able to keep up with everything in the city that never sleeps, hopefully after five opportunities to enter the ring with the wildly innovative and imaginative Japanese Theatre Company Kaimaku Pennant Race (KPR) from May 15-18th at Japan Society, they will become -- in Shakespeare's own words -- 'a household name' with Ashita no Ma-Joe: Rocky Macbeth.
'One Drop,' a family drama with music by Andrea J. Fulton, brings to life the politics of a young mixed-race man's 'passing' for white in post-Civil War Louisiana, illustrating the risks taken by those not afraid to love despite bigotry. The piece, inspired by the playwright's actual family history, tells the story of a family torn apart by racism but ultimately reunited. It debuted in Theater for the New City's Dream Up Festival in 2010. TNC will present a revival of the play, directed by Sabura Rashid, from February 1 to 18 in honor of Black History Month.
Fans of The Human Race's 2008 production of Tom Dudzick's national hit Over the Tavern will rejoice at the regional premiere of the playwright's 'rollicking' Miracle on South Division Street, directed by Human Race Resident Artist Richard E. Hess (Race, Red, Doubt). Check out photos below!
Road Less Traveled Productions will wrap up its 2013-14 season with David Mamet's RACE. This explosive legal drama features a veteran cast of local talent playing characters who tussle over the difficult question of racial bias in crime. That's because right next to me tells the story of a young military widow (Maria Couch) who, a year after her Marine Major husband (HRTC Resident Artist Jamie Cordes) was killed in Iraq, is completely unable to cope with the loss until his brother (Jim Poulos) leads her on a journey of transformation.

This week, June 8, RACE introduced its new cast to the press. Written and directed by David Mamet, RACE recouped early in the spring and is the longest running play of the season. BroadwayWorld met up with the new crew at Sardi's for the photo op.
