Award-winning improv group ComedySportz Houston (CSz-Houston) will celebrate its 25th year with a commemorative show in the Queensbury Theater tonight, November 14th, 2015 at 8:00pm!
The group has been recognized as "Best Comedy Club" by Living Magazine -Memorial Edition; "Houston's Best Live Comedy Show" by Click2Houston.com; "Top Houston-Area Entertainment Venues" by Houston Business Journal; "Best Comedy Club" by Houston Press; "Ultimate Houston Award" by Houston Chronicle; and "Best Comedy Club" by Great Day Houston.
CSz-Houston was founded in 1990 by Dianah Dulany. The troupe has grown from 15 members to 46. Venues the group has called home are the River Café in Montrose; Treebeards downtown; Lambert Hall, the Heights; ComedySportz Arena on Town and Country Boulevard, Holiday Inn in the Energy Corridor; and their current venue, Queensbury Theater on Queensbury Lane.
The organization has given thousands of comp tickets to fundraisers each year and donated more than $60,000 to area charities, including The Rose, Texas Children's Hospital and Gilda's Club.
Community outreach also includes a High School League, which began in 1995 in four Houston schools. Troupe members now hold improv workshops in 19 high schools throughout Spring Branch, Katy and Cy-Fair school districts. Approximately 200 students are involved in the program this year.
