Clark, Gaines, Murray, Seldes, Thomas and More to Participate in John Houseman's Acting Company Salon Series

November 14th kicks off The Acting Company's Salon Series of staged readings as Emmy-winner Tom Fontana (Oz, Homicide, St. Elsewhere) directs Marian Seldes and Samantha Soule (White Chocolate, Dinner at Eight) in Trelawny of the 'Wells', an affectionate look at the theater folk of the 1860's by Arthur Pinero.

Brian Murray (The Crucible –Tony nom., The Rivals) and Patricia Conolly (Enchanted April, Judgement at Nuremberg) co-star in The Good Companions, directed by Susan Schulman (Little Women), written by J.B. Priestley with a score by Andre Previn and Johnny Mercer, on January 12th.

On February 27th, three Tony Award winners meet when Melvin Bernhardt (Da) directs Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) and Boyd Gaines (Contact, She Loves Me), in When Ladies Meet, Rachel Crothers' comedy about a publisher's mistress who unwittingly becomes friendly with his wife.

March 27th brings George Bernard Shaw's Candida directed by Doug Mercer and starring Richard Thomas (A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, Democracy) and Kathryn Meisle (upcoming A Touch of the Poet, The Constant Wife).

Readings take place at The Culture Project, 45 Bleecker Street at 7 p.m. and are followed by a reception with the cast and director. Tickets for Trelawny of the 'Wells', The Good Companions, When Ladies Meet, and Candida are $35 & $55 and can be purchased by calling (212) 258-3111.

Proceeds benefit The Acting Company's Literacy Through Theater artistic residencies for disadvantaged students in New York City schools. Founded in 1972 by John Houseman and Margot Harley, The Acting Company has launched the careers (among others) of Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, Jesse L. Martin, Frances Conroy, Jeffrey Wright, Harriet Harris, David Schramm and David Ogden Stiers. On November 14th, The Acting Company received a TONY Honor for Excellence in Theater.
