Cheyenne Jackson will take over the role of Sonny in XANADU at the Helen Hayes Theatre, 240 West 44th. St. on Friday, June 22nd.  Jackson is taking over for James Carpinello, who was forced to leave the production due to an injury.

Cheyenne Jackson, who Liz Smith called "the sexiest man on Broadway" starred in the musical "All Shook Up", which earned him critical praise in addition to the Theatre World Award and nominations for Drama League and Outer Critics' Circle Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor. From "All Shook Up", Jackson soared to Hollywood and starred in the feature film "Flight 93". His film debut was in the taut and edgy independent short film "Curiosity". Cheyenne originated the lead role in the off Broadway hit "Alterboyz- A part he gave up when producers from Miramax asked him to star in "All Shook Up".

Jackson says, "I'm excited to join the cast of XANADU while James Carpinello recovers - my heart goes out to him, as he spent months working on this project, only to be injured so close to opening night. I am honored to borrow his skates. I owe a lot to (director) Christopher Ashley & (writer) Douglas Carter Beane and would gladly paint their apartments if they called and asked".

XANADU lead producer Robert Ahrens said "After difficult days for James and the company, I am pleased to welcome Cheyenne. Stepping in on such short notice exemplifies the true Broadway spirit."

Preview performance of XANADU continue as scheduled. A new opening night date will be announced shortly.
