The Brooklyn Museum's Target First Saturdays event attracts thousands of visitors to free programs of art and entertainment each month. Beginning in October the Target First Saturday dance party will take place from 8 to 10 p.m. instead of from 9 to 11 p.m. For October's event, the Museum invited visitors to choose the programming by giving a shout-out to local emerging performing artists, musicians, filmmakers, writers, and DJs whose work relates to the concept of community. Nominations were made throughout July, and voting on the top three candidates in each category took place from August 6 to 20. The top vote-getters in each category form the lineup for the evening. In addition, the winner of Bravo TV's Work of Art: The Next Great Artist will give a talk in conjunction with the exhibition Work of Art: The Winner at 7 p.m. Highlights include:

5-7 p.m. Music
A.D.M. (Architects + Demolition Men) presents an energetic mix of vocals, percussion, horn, guitar, bass, and piano influenced by hip-hop and hard-core punk.

5-10:30 p.m. Object of the Month
Examine Benjamin G. Bowden's Spacelander Bicycle with the help of a "Looking Closer" guide.

5:30-6:30 p.m. Performance

6:30-8:30 p.m. Hands-On Art
Participants are invited to brush, smear, daub, and splatter paint onto canvas to create an abstract work of art. Free timed tickets available at the Visitor Center at 5:30 p.m.
