CUBBY BERNSTEIN, THE SERIES Gets Released, Benefits BC/EFA

Cubby Bernstein and BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS are proud to present Cubby Bernstein, THE SERIES, the new DVD of the "celebrity-studded, buzz-generating, record-breaking web series !" (Playbill). Last year, The New York Times said, "I suggest that next year the TONY producers put production of the telecast into the subversively witty hands of Cubby Bernstein." Instead, Mr. Bernstein has chosen to turn his enterprise into a charitable one, building upon his working relationship with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

"Oy, with the cupcake sale! I did it first just because Liz McCann was looking for a little sugar rush. But then when I got to know all the great things BC/EFA does everyday -- I got such good feeling right in the ticker -- I knew I had to keep on giving to this wonderful cause. I tell you this DVD is just the icing on the cupcake -- Liz, why are you coming towards me?"

"Cubby Bernstein is as generous as he is opinionated - which for BC/EFA has been a wonderful thing," says Tom Viola, BC/EFA's executive director. "The company of XANADU raised a terrific amount of money for BC/EFA during their delightful run at The Helen Hayes Theatre and Cubby put them over the top. That may be, however, only because Liz McCann drop kicked him. But to now also be the beneficiary of proceeds from Cubby Bernstein's DVD. - it's a Broadway mitzvah. No matter what anyone says, Cubby stands tall."

In these trying times, Mr. Bernstein is now completely devoted to helping those in need. Along with conceiving the charitable Cubby Bernstein, the series DVD while on hiatus from the theater world, Bernstein and his assistant Dyllun Von Ritter recently helped to raise funds to combat Prop 8, the legislation that calls same-sex marriage illegal. Making his first appearance in 8 months at Defying Inquality: The Broadway Concert, Bernstein and Von Ritter took the Gershwin stage and spoke to a packed house of 1200 about Mr. Von Ritter's marriage to Tony-nominee Daniel Evans.
