CAP21's June 2013 Writers Residency launches today - Includes Terry Berliner, Joel Waggoner, and More

The CAP21 June 2013 Writers Residency launches today and features 12 writers devoted to creating new work. Each writer is awarded 80 hours of free space, a stipend, and guidance from the Artistic Director, Eliza Ventura. Selected writers are chosen and given the opportunity to begin or further develop new musicals or plays in a supportive and focused environment.

Composers/Writers selected for the June 2013 session are BranDon Anderson and Jenny Stafford, Knud Adams, Kate Hamilton and Nick Lerangis, Douglas Hall and Joel Waggoner, Fengar Gael and Dennis McCarthy, Terry Berliner, Tamar Cole, and James McLindon.

This prestigious residency selects candidates from all over the world. Candidates chosen are already active contributors to the industry and include an Emmy Winners (Dennis McCarthy), a Billboard Top 20 Artists (Nick Lerangis), and a Theatre Critic's Circle Award Winner (Terry Berliner).

The Writers Residency is just one of many platforms offered by CAP21 to support the creation of new musicals and plays. Other programs designed to propel new work towards production are: The Artists Residency, The Roundtable Reading Series, The Monday Night Reading Series, and the production of new Off-Broadway and Off-Off Broadway plays and musicals.

The CAP21 Theatre Company is currently celebrating their 20th Anniversary. As part of the milestone anniversary, CAP21 is dedicated to supporting the development of at least 20 new musicals in the coming year through the rich programming that the Theatre Company offers.
