Buck's County Playhouse Extends MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET Through Sept. 29

With demand for tickets as hot as the current heatwave, Bucks County Playhouse's team announced today a two-week extension of its hit production of the Tony-award winning musical, "Million Dollar Quartet." The show, originally scheduled to close on Saturday, September 15, will now close Saturday, September 29.

Directed by original Broadway cast member, Hunter Foster, the Playhouse's production of "Million Dollar Quartet" has been hailed by critics as "an electrifying revival" in which the audience is "caught up in a riotous singalong under sweeping theater lights."

"Audiences have embraced this production of 'Million Dollar Quartet' and this incredibly talented cast of actor-musicians who perform live onstage every night. We are lucky they were available to extend the production for two additional weeks, so theatergoers can have 16 more chances to rock out with this super-high energy show," says Producing Director Alexander Fraser.

The extension comes on the heels of the Playhouse's recent record-breaking production of "42nd Street," which sold a third of tis tickets to folks who had never been to Playhouse before. This follows a 2017 season, which saw attendance at the Playhouse increase 33%.

"The Playhouse is on a roll," says Fraser. "Last season we saw our attendance increase 33%. But we have a ways to go before we can relax. That's why we're excited that so many new patrons are finding the Playhouse. This extension will give even more theatergoers the chance to make Bucks County Playhouse their go-to place for live entertainment as we work to build an audience that will sustain us long term."

"Million Dollar Quartet" takes audiences inside one of the most magical nights in rock and roll history. The high voltage rock 'n roll musical, with book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux, is inspired by the true story of a famed recording session that brought together four music icons for an infamous all-night jam session. "Million Dollar Quartet." The 2018 Bucks County Playhouse Season is sponsored by Bank of America.

The Playhouse's Executive Producer Robyn Goodman, Producing Director Alexander Fraser, and producers Stephen Kocis and Josh Fiedler recently announced details of the production, the second to feature direction by Foster this season. "Million Dollar Quartet" comes on the heels of a Foster-helmed production of "42nd Street," which broke box office records at the Playhouse.

On December 4, 1956, an unlikely quartet of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carol Perkins - all young artists in their 20s on the verge of superstardom - accidentally converged on Sun Records in Memphis - and made magic in the process. "Million Dollar Quartet" takes you behind the music with a monumental night that explodes off the stage with a talented cast playing 21 legendary hits including "Blue Suede Shoes," "Walk the Line," "Great Balls of Fire," "Folsom Prison Blues," "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," and "Hound Dog."

The show features full renditions of top rock 'n' roll, gospel, R&B and country hits, performed live onstage by actors who play their own instruments, as well as sing and perform.

The Bucks County cast includes John Michael Presney as Carl Perkins, Sky Seals as Johnny Cash, Brandyn Day as Jerry Lee Lewis, Ari McKay Wilford as Elvis Presley, James Ludwig as Sam Phillips, Ryah Nixon as Dyanne, James David Larson as Jay Perkins and Zach Cossman as Fluke Holland.

Josh Smith is Scenic Designer. Lighting Designer is Kirk Bookman. Costume designer is Lauren T. Roark. Bart Fasbender is Sound Designer. John Michael Presney is Music Director. Jane Pole is Production Stage Manager. Michelle Scalpone is Assistant Stage Manager.

The production will play the following schedule: Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m., Wednesdays at 2:00 pm, Thursdays at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm, Fridays at 8:00 pm (except Friday, September 7 at 7:00 pm - New Hope Fireworks following the show), Saturdays at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm, and Sundays at 2:00 pm.
