Brooklyn Museum Offers Adult Public Programs in April

During April, the Brooklyn Museum will present a variety of public programs for adults, including the return of the Audiophile concert series featuring Body Language and Oneohtrix Point Never on April 19. The Museum continues to come alive with THURSDAYS @ 7, a series of "innovative and engaging programs that embody a Brooklyn state of mind." Schedule highlights are listed below:

Gallery Tour: "Seeing Red: The Color Red in Art through the Ages"

Workshop: "Identity and Oral History"
Saturday, April 14, 2 p.m.
Inspired by the Question Bridge exhibition, the Brooklyn Historical Society's Director of Oral History, Sady Sullivan, leads a workshop on how to preserve family histories and personal stories of race, culture, gender, and identity for future generations.

Brooklyn Afternoons: Art and Conversation for Individuals with Memory Loss
Wednesdays, April 18, 2-4 p.m.
A monthly gallery program for individuals with memory loss and their caregivers. Light refreshments are served, and FM assistive-listening devices are available. Space is limited, and registration is required. To register, call (718) 501-6229 or e-mailaccess@brooklynmuseum.org.

Thursday, April 19, 7 p.m.
Sensory Tour: "Brooklyn Sights and Sounds." This tour is a full sensory encounter with selected works from the Permanent Collection that have to do with the borough. It is designed for all adults, including vision-impaired individuals. Registration required ataccess@brooklynmuseum.org.
AudioPhile: Electro-pop group Body Language opens for Oneohtrix Point Never, the experimental music project of Brooklyn-based writer and musician Daniel Lopatin, in the first of three concerts featuring the most innovative emerging talent of Brooklyn's thriving music scene. New Ways of Seeing: A Drop-in Drawing Workshop
Thursdays, April 19, 7:30-8:45 p.m.
Join us the third Thursday of every month for drawing in the Museum. Led by a professional teaching artist, participants visit a work from the Museum's collection, explore the artist's process, and develop their own drawing style. Raw/Cooked artist Heather Hart discusses her rooftop installation The Eastern Oracleand leads a workshop on making community shrines.

Gallery Tour: Keith Haring: 1978-1982
Film: Life in a Day (Kevin MacDonald, 2011, 93 min.). A documentary shot by filmmakers from all over the world that serves as a time capsule of what life was like on July 24, 2010.

Artist Talk: "We Are Animals of Language"
Saturday, April 28, 2 p.m.
Artist Lesley Dill discusses the key role of language in her work, including her operaDivide Light and her community project "Tongues on Fire: Visions and Ecstasy."

Music: Orchestra of St. Luke's
Sunday, April 29, 2-4 p.m.
St. Luke's presents a program entitled "Life Stories," featuring Mozart's Horn Quintet, written for his close friend Ignaz Leutgeb, and a musical reflection of childhood by American composer Ingram Marshall. Following the performance, a gallery tour will present connections between the performance and art in the Museum. Tickets are $35 ($25 for Members), with $10 rush tickets available to students.
