Brooklyn Chamber has released the following statement:
"As head of Brooklyn's only community foundation, Marilyn's work and commitment to the borough over the years led to the improvement of the lives of countless people. In less than four years time under Marilyn's leadership, the Brooklyn Community Foundation has given out over $15 million in grant money. Her work following Hurricane Sandy helped numerous communities across the borough - from residents to small businesses - that were battered by the storm. I was proud as head of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to work alongside her and Borough President Marty Markowitz in creating the Brooklyn Recovery Fund and helping raise over $2 million for non-profits and community groups to help these communities recover. Marilyn has always cared for the most vulnerable and that was evident every day through her hard work. I had something in common with Marilyn. She once served as Borough President Howard Golden's Chief of Staff just as I once worked in the same position for Borough President Marty Markowitz. Her long and distinguished career as a public servant and her legacy at the Brooklyn Community Foundation will indeed live on for years to come."
