Some
of Broadway's brightest are featured in the complete cast of "The
Broadway Musicals of 1978." In fact, the closing night concert of
Broadway by the Year's sixth season will include the most performers in
the series' history. It will take place on Monday, June 19th at 8 PM at
Town Hall.
The concert will be directed by Broadway veteran Bryan Batt (he will
also perform). The cast includes Tony-nominee Carolee Carmello (Lestat), Joyce Chittick (The
Pajama Game), Chuck Cooper (The Life), Mary Bond Davis (Hairspray),
Felicia Finley (The Wedding Singer), Julie Garnye (Hair: Actor's Fund),
Sean Martin Hingston (Contact), Nancy Opel (Fiddler on the Roof), Noah
Racey (Never Gonna Dance), Christine Pedi (Forbidden Broadway), Lennie
Watts (Nightlife Award Winner), and Lari White (Ring of Fire).
For
the first time in the series' history, the concert will
be graced by the presence of several of the songwriters whose work will
be featured twenty-eight years after their shows opened on Broadway.
Expected in the audience on Monday night at Town Hall will be Stephen
Schwartz (Working), Billy Goldenberg (Ballroom), and Carol Hall (The
Best Little Whorehouse in Texas).
"I'm
excited about matching this incredible cast up with the music from
1978," said Siegel. They'll be singing songs from show like Ain't Misbehavin', Ballroom, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Eubie, On the Twenthieth Century, Runaways, Working, and others!
There
are still a limited number of tickets available at The Town Hall box
office and at TicketMaster (212-307-4100) for the concert.
Tickets are $45 and $40.
