Bradley Lohrenz Departs Samuel French for Playscripts, Inc.

Playscripts, Inc., an independent theatrical publishing and licensing agency, announces that Bradley Lohrenz, previously the Director of Licensing at Samuel French, has joined the company as Vice-President. Mr. Lohrenz will now oversee all of the agency's Professional & Amateur licensing and acquisitions.

Bradley Lohrenz previously spent 19 years at Samuel French, most recently as the company's Director of Licensing. Prior to his years at Samuel French, Mr. Lohrenz worked as an Assistant General Manager for Big League Theatricals, managing national tours of Tommy, The Secret Garden and Five Guys Named Moe. He also company managed tours throughout the US, Canada, Israel, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Established in 1998 by brothers and playwrights Doug and Jonathan Rand, Playscripts, Inc. currently publishes and represents 1,800 plays and musicals by over 1,100 playwrights. The Playscripts catalogue is carefully curated to represent a diversity of voices, styles, and stories that offer a fresh perspective on the human experience. Actively licensing to over 30,000 professional and amateur theatres worldwide, Playscripts is committed to the extraordinary role of the playwright as artist, business person, and marketer.

Playscripts, Inc. recently formed a global publishing/distribution deal with production company Stageworks Media, best known for adapting music, publishing and film studio source material directly for the stock and amateur theatrical licensing marketplace. The deal's inaugural projects include two new titles from Stageworks' Pop Musicals Collection, Cyrano de BurgerShack by Jeremy Desmon, and Emma! A Pop Musical by Eric Price. Both musicals -- contemporary retellings of the classic stories and characters set in modern high schools -- were created in partnership with the major music publishing houses such as Sony/ATV, Warner Chappell, Universal, and BMG, among others. Both features scores comprised of newly arranged pop hits by artists such as Katy Perry, P!nk, Madonna, Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson, Adele, John Mayer, Sara Bareilles, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar, Carly Rae Jepson, Whitney Houston, Alanis Morissette, and many others.

Playscripts Inc.'s Advisory Board includes David Henry Hwang, Morgan Jenness, Tony Kushner, Terrence McNally, Lynn Nottage, Harold Prince, Robert Schenkkan, Stephen Schwartz, Neil Simon, and Alfred Uhry.
